Passionate.

How I Got Here

Growing up we are constantly told to "do what we're passionate about." That advice seemed overwhelming at first, especially at 15 years old. I knew what I loved -- sports -- but how would someone who isn't athletic be successful in the industry? When I started to learn more about sports broadcast, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. My path was set, now I just had to make it happen. In college I focused on sports media, how it has changed, what changed it, and what impact we've had on sports from conception to today.

During my sophomore year I found the Sport Management program at UCSB. Through that program I gained a one-day trial internship with the Big West Conference, which led to a three year opportunity to learn all of the ins and outs of remote sport broadcast. I shadowed my Executive Producer every chance I had, whether that was at broadcasts or in the warehouse. I helped rebuild our production rack, re wrapped thousands of feet of cable, and helped train new Production Assistants as they came in. The experience gave me an extremely well-rounded view of live production. While maintaining a role with that production crew, I also began to work as a Viz Artist for the NFL Network. It was in this position that I was given the opportunity to learn how to build in Viz Artist and maintain our Viz machines. In my time at the NFL I created two shows for the Network while updating and supporting ten others, while also learning how to successfully troubleshoot graphic systems in a studio setting.

After leaving the NFL I was given an opportunity to explore the world of esports with Riot Games. It was here that I continued to refine my skill as a Viz Artist, while also taking on a larger role as a real-time graphics producer. My time at Riot Games led me across the US and around the world on many occasions. I saw the league go through the process of franchising and worked closely with sponsors. I was also given the opportunity to work on teams that implemented many new technologies including Viz Libero, Ventuz and Augmented Reality. We were awarded the 2017 Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Graphics earlier this year.

My producers at Riot recognized that I was extremely organized in my work, dedicated to the best possible product and trusted among teammates and decided to offer me the opportunity to become a Broadcast Producer. It’s here that I have been able to finetune my skills as a level-headed leader in and out of the control room. My ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people including talent, directors, sponsors and outside vendors has allowed me to thrive in this role.

My experience in production has allowed me to become extremely organized, calm in high stress environments, and a successful leader and teammate. These skills are great to have in the control room, and will continue to be a benefit to any team that I join.
